Reds Blown Away in Last 10 Minutes
Dunbar 14 (0) Linlithgow 3 (3)
Both teams struggled manfully to play rugby with a gale force wind howling across the pitch in this final match of the season in BT East 1 at Dunbar. The Reds had taken a 3-0 first half lead from a John Strachan penalty and held this lead until late in the game, when sustained Dunbar pressure finally told and they ran in (or rather crashed in) two converted tries. The Reds finish the season in fifth place in BT East 1 with 50 points from 18 matches, with Dunbar finishing in fourth place just above on 54 points. Berwick finished as deserved champions, although both Dalkeith and North Berwick ran them close.

Berwick Up, Langholm Down
Congratulations to Berwick who, with a win against Duns on Saturday, confirmed their promotion from BT East 1 to BT National 3. Commiserations to Langholm, who finished bottom of BT East 1, and will go down to BT East 2 next season.
The two clubs will be replaced next season by Murrayfield Wanderers, who are relegated from BT National 2, and St Boswells, who are promoted from BT East 2. There is also the possibility that Hawick YM also drop down from BT National 3 – it’s between them and Dalziel for the third relegation place from BT National 3.
Chris Fusaro and Jamie Ritchie Guest at Youth Dinner
Wednesday 25 March 2015
Glasgow and Scotland flanker Chris Fusaro and Edinburgh and Scotland u20 flanker Jamie Ritchie were the guest speakers at the annual Youth Dinner at Mains Park. They entertained the assembled youth players by talking a bit about themselves, before answering a wide range of questions from the floor. They then presented the prizes for each team – players’ player of season and coaches’ player of the season, before presenting the S1s with the team of the season award.

Reds’ P6s Remain Unbeaten in 2015
Another good weekend for the P6s, who have won 15 out of 16 matches in 2015, with one drawn game. This weekend, the Reds’ P6s were up against strong teams from Kinross and Hillfoots as well as Grangemouth and Glenrothes and won all 4 matches. Three wins were convincing with 8-0, 7-2 and 5-0 scorelines. The fourth match against the hosts Hillfoots was much closer and finished a 2-1 victory. Tries were shared throughout the team with 8 of the squad of 13 being on the score sheet. They all played superbly well, with their passing and rucking in particular worthy of a mention.

Academy Season Ends with Cracking Match
Linlithgow Academy 5 – 12 St Columba’s School
The school 1st XV ended the season the way they had started it, with a home match against St Columba’s from Kilmalcolm. Once again, it was a very even contest and an exciting match of rugby.

Rugby Club Golf Day
Due to the success of our inaugural golf day in 2013 we have decided to return to Kingsfield to host another fundraising event in 2015. Find the entry form attached. Our new indoor training facility is now built and operational but a small funding gap still remains.
The club is calling for the support of local businesses and the community to get involved and enter a team. The event will be held at Kingsfield Golf Course and will include an 18 hole four person team golf tournament, fund raising activities and a Prize giving at the club in the evening.
We are seeking entries from Teams of 4 to compete in our main competition. Tee times are available from 9am until 10:45am or from 1pm until 2:45pm.
The cost is £120 for a 4 person team. In the 1st instance you can reserve a team by contacting Nick Chadwick (email@example.com).
If it makes life easier we are happy to send an invoice to your company.
Pound Round the Pitch Raised Pounds
If anyone were flying above Mains Park last Saturday morning they must have wondered what was going on! It was, of course, our Pound Round The Pitch and all you Pounders should take a bow.
One hundred and fifteen people “registered” to walk but, as many of them were youth members, we had mums and dads and others joining in with them. There must have been several hundreds in total before we finished. There was a real buzz about the Club House.
And the outcome? The total raised, including cake money, now stands at £2,347.90 The good news is that there is still some sponsorship money to come in so we expect that total to rise.
Thanks to everyone who took part and supported this venture. It gave us another day to remember.
Congratulations to Ross Dunbar
Ross Dunbar, prop forward in the Linlithgow Academy 1st XV, was selected as starting prop forward in the Scotland u18 Development team to face Romania at Murrayfield on 15 March 2015.
Fourteen girls – from Micro to High School age – and two new female coaches joined the Girls Rugby launch event last Sunday, where they were put through their paces by Scotland Prop and Women’s National Development Officer Sarah Quick.
The girls worked on a range of core skills, including running, passing, support and an introduction to tackling. They enthusiastically took part, demonstrating a great range of skills with some slick passing and movement during the final game. A full set of photos are on our Shutterfly site.
Girls Rugby will continue every Sunday at 11am until the end of the season, lead by Female Rugby Co-ordinator Laura, supported by our new coaches Kirstin and Kerry.
